Generous support from the Churchill Foundation means we can continue our research and keep advocating for a fair home insurance market in Aotearoa.
Consumer NZ is excited to share that our investigations team leader, Rebecca Styles, has been awarded a Churchill Fellowship.

The fellowship will pay for Rebecca’s travel to Australia, the UK, Europe and the United States in 2026 to see how these countries help their communities stay insured and manage hazards from the increasing incidence of extreme weather events.
This will build on Rebecca’s work earlier this year, when she investigated whether homeowners and renters Will you be able to get home insurance by 2035?
Her research found home insurance is becoming increasingly unaffordable for some New Zealanders. As extreme weather events increase, insurance could soon be unavailable in more areas.
When she returns, Rebecca will share how other countries are dealing with insurance and climate adaptation issues and will continue Consumer’s work advocating for a fair insurance market in Aotearoa.
We thank the Churchill Foundation for its generous support of Rebecca’s work.

We can't do this without you.
As an independent non-profit, we depend on the generous support of our members and donors to keep us fighting for a better deal.
