Graphic Designer

We’re looking for a talented and creative graphic designer to join our operations team.

We’re excited to be attracting new audiences and delivering content dynamically for today’s consumers. The graphic designer is effectively responsible for the efficient planning, design and production of our quarterly Consumer magazine and the delivery of graphic design solutions for the wider organisation.

As the graphic designer you’ll:

  • lead and execute the design of all print and some digital materials

  • look for new, innovative ways of designing and then working collaboratively to lead the changes, including exploring options for AI to help streamline processes and gain efficiencies

  • provide quality and timely management of design aspects of the magazine production and printing process, including monitoring page proofs, applying editing changes, correcting proofs and progressing pages to final sign-off

  • be responsible for sourcing images, coordinating prop/models/designs and organising photography shoots (independently or with freelance photographers)

  • coordinate magazine printing

  • manage the magazine retrospective process and communicate outcomes and decisions from meetings

  • ensure the Consumer NZ brand guidelines are up to date and applied consistently

  • act as the best practice lead for design creation and publishing

  • respond to design briefs from within the organisation.

To do this, you'll have experience in both print and digital graphic design, with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator). Knowledge of contemporary design practices and the publishing industry is essential. You must excel in creativity, flexibility and responding urgently to meet deadlines. Strong English skills, attention to detail and organizational abilities are a must. Your talent for engaging visual communication, demonstrated through fluency in both print and digital design, will be key.

Senior Communications Adviser

About the role

The Senior Communications Adviser is a key member of the Campaigns & Communications team and is responsible for maintaining Consumer’s external media presence and driving public engagement on Consumer’s advocacy campaigns. This includes creating media materials, liaising directly with media, briefing media spokespeople, liaising with the policy and content teams to create and refine messages, and delivering advocacy campaign content that will resonate and engage with existing and potential supporters.

Key responsibilities

  • work with content producers to produce media releases that will have cut through in the NZ media landscape

  • create unique media releases and content based off the rich volume of data from the data and insights team

  • develop media strategies for larger profile works e.g., investigations and in-depth research

  • balance and maintain ongoing partnerships with media outlets, ensuring content is fresh and compelling

  • provide briefing notes and advice to media spokespeople

  • work closely with the social media team to create compelling social content

  • liaise with the policy team to develop messaging for specific advocacy campaigns

  • develop relationships with external stakeholders relevant to the communications and campaigns space e.g., journalists, government departments

  • collaborate with the Marketing Team to develop EDMs that resonate with Consumer NZ campaign supporters

  • develop and maintain the campaigns and advocacy web pages on the Consumer NZ website

  • assist in donation and crowdfunding drives

  • assist with event management as required

  • support the Communications & Campaigns Manager as required including media monitoring, updating media contacts, answering inbound media requests, launching campaigns and responding to urgent needs.

Research & Insights Analyst

About the role

As a Research & Insights Analyst, you’ll play a key role in our Product team, focusing on quantitative analysis and advanced data work. You’ll compile, clean and analyse large, diverse data sets, build dashboards, and deliver actionable insights that help teams and stakeholders access and understand data.

Your work will build the evidence base for new strategy and product development, and shape the trends and content we share with all New Zealanders. You’ll work closely with colleagues in product testing, marketing, advocacy, and business programmes, as well as with external partners in the private sector and government. Your attention to detail and analytical skills will help maintain high standards of data integrity and drive continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to understand business problems and deliver analytical solutions.

  • Compile, clean and analyse large data sets – including survey data from tools such as Alchemer and SurveyMonkey – to identify trends and generate actionable insights.

  • Build and maintain dashboards and data visualisations using tools such as Power BI and Q.

  • Present findings in clear, accessible formats for a range of audiences, including PowerPoint reports and presentations.

  • Support the ongoing development and improvement of Consumer NZ’s data platform (Fabric), helping to identify and resolve system issues.

  • Ensure data accuracy, privacy, and security, maintaining high standards of data stewardship.

  • Manage data deliverables, responding to ad hoc requests from both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Support major research projects, grants and funded initiatives as required.

  • Proactively identify new data sources, methods, and opportunities to enhance Consumer NZ’s insights and data products.

Match your skills and experience to the role

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in an analytical field such as statistics, economics, market research or related.

  • At least one years’ experience working in data analysis, insights or similar role.

  • Practical experience using a range of research and data tools (e.g. Power BI, Q, Alchemer, SQL, Fabric) for quantitative analysis, insight generation, and reporting.

  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills, able to juggle multiple projects and work under tight deadlines.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex data for various audiences.

The Business Programmes Coordinator will work closely with our Business Development Manager to deliver an efficient and effective sales pipeline and ensure our clients get a great customer experience.
