While insurance premiums are rising, customer satisfaction is falling. However, there are a few insurers keeping people happy.
Respondents with car insurance were on average more likely to be very satisfied with their insurer (53%). Life insurers were once again at the bottom of the pile – just 24% of those with life cover were satisfied with the service they were getting.
About our survey
Our survey took place online in October 2023; 4,087 Consumer NZ members and supporters took part. Insurers are those with 30 responses or more.
Overall satisfaction shows the percentage who rated their insurer 8, 9 or 10 on a scale from 0 (very dissatisfied) to 10 (very satisfied).
We give our People’s Choice award to providers that rate above average for customer satisfaction and meet our other performance criteria. Learn more about People’s Choice.
