Ecovacs has flung all the latest tech into its newest flagship robot vacuum – the DEEBOT X11 OmniCyclone. We lived with one for a few weeks to see if it’s worth the eyewatering +$3,000 price tag.

Features

As Ecovacs’ flagship model, the DEEBOT X11 OmniCyclone has a long list of features. My son commented, “Lots of nice little features, no real big innovations” – and he might be right!

The DEEBOT X11 is similar to several competitors’ robot vacs, although a few features set it apart:

  • it has a roller mop instead of the usual vibrating pad or spinning discs

  • the dock is bagless

  • its PowerBoost fast-charging system is claimed to be capable of restoring 6% of battery power in only 3 minutes, enabling the bot to clean larger areas.

Otherwise, there’s all the usual features you’d expect at this price point:

  • automatic mop washing and drying

  • massive suction – 19,500Pa

  • an extending mop to get closer to corners, which can be used with a cleaning solution for hard floors

  • anti-tangle brushes.

Plus, a fully featured app, with countless settings, voice activation (using Ecovacs’ assistant ‘Yiko’), and a patrol mode so you can use the vac’s camera to snoop around your house and find out what your pets are up to.

The OmniCyclone dock includes a bagless auto-empty bin and two medium-sized water containers (clean and dirty water). There are also two detergent containers – the larger is for standard detergent, and the smaller for a heavy-duty solution that’s used when the vac’s AI detects an extra-dirty spot.

We couldn’t test the heavy-duty cleaning as no solution was supplied or available at the time of trial.
