SolarZero liquidation: what to do if you're a customer
With the news SolarZero has gone into liquidation, we’ve had a lot of people coming to us asking what it means for their contract with the company.
SolarZero customers didn’t pay anything upfront for solar panels and batteries to be installed, and some have been locked into paying off the installation over 25 years. So, it’s no wonder many are worried about what the news of the company’s failure means.
SolarZero has announced its customers will be supported by third-party servicing company Verofi. Verofi will now take care of:
- battery replacement
- monitoring
- repairs and replacements
- moving-house management.
Our advice
SolarZero has advised that "services will continue uninterrupted to customers throughout the country with Verofi".
SolarZero’s terms and conditions allow it to assign its rights and obligations to another party. Verofi needs the customers’ agreement to change any terms and conditions. Therefore, at this stage, there is no need for customers to do anything.
SolarZero customers can only terminate their contracts in specific circumstances. They cannot terminate their contracts simply because Verofi is taking over providing the services.
So, for now, our advice is to continue as is. Or you could seek legal advice if you have concerns about the service you receive.
