IKEA’s Auckland store opening this week has brought many new products to Aotearoa, including appliances! We’ve already tested 9 IKEA products. Here’s how they performed.

IKEA has a long history of producing flat-pack furniture, homeware and Swedish meatballs. Started in Sweden, the company now sells low-cost home furnishings and products that are well designed and functional worldwide. But did you know they also sell appliances?
At Consumer NZ, we test products via a range of laboratories around the world. Ever since the announcement IKEA was coming to New Zealand, we’ve been collating overseas test results for IKEA products, anticipating they would appear here. Our team found test results for 3 cooktops, 3 microwaves, an oven, a dishwasher and a fridge. And we’re looking to add more IKEA products to the testing schedule.
IKEA claims to be cost conscious without compromising quality. But only one performed well enough to earn our Recommended tick!
