Damp, poor-quality air is a major enemy to a healthy home.
A dehumidifier can tackle the damp and an air purifier can clean the air – but that’s two appliances taking up space!
Luckily, there are now dehumidifiers with built-in air purification or filtration functions. They’re worth considering if both damp and poor air quality are issues in your home.
What does a dehumidifier do?
A dehumidifier removes excess moisture from the air to help keep your home drier, healthier and less prone to mould. Too much moisture in the air can damage your home and your health.
What does an air purifier do?
An air purifier sucks the air in the room across a filter to remove polluting particles such as dust, pollen, smoke and volatile organic compounds (gases from paints, glues, cleaning products etc).
Air purifiers can have different types of filters. HEPA filters are the most effective, capturing 99.97% of airborne particles down to 0.3 microns in size, including bacteria and some viruses.
Should you buy a dehumidifier with air purifier?
If you need both appliances in your home, then yes, you should seriously consider it.
Note that none of the dehumidifiers with air purifiers that we’ve tested so far perform particularly well below 10°C.
